USAY · delivered through MammothXR

Three rooms, one friend to find, and a story worth talking about.

A VR escape room game for the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth, built with MammothXR, that tells the story of an Indigenous youth finding his way back from homelessness.

The brief

USAY wanted a way to start conversations about youth homelessness and the services that exist to help, with young people who would never sit through a presentation. The answer was a game: three escape rooms, a friend named Victor who has gone missing, and clues that piece together his story.

What we built

  • 01

Three escape-room style VR levels where the player collects objects, solves puzzles and uncovers Victor's fall and recovery.

  • 02

Narrative and audio woven through the puzzles, with Indigenous artists and actors carrying the story.

  • 03

Published free on the Oculus store and packaged so community groups and schools can run demonstrations themselves.

What it does now

A free VR game that gets young people talking about homelessness and the support around them, in classrooms and community rooms across Calgary.
