A deep water platform on the boardroom table.
An augmented reality app for Shell, built with MammothXR, that places a deep water production platform on any surface and lets people explore how it works from the seabed up.
The brief
Deep water operations happen kilometres offshore and kilometres down. Shell wanted a way to show the scale and the engineering to people who will never visit one, on a device they already carry, in a meeting room or on a show floor.
What we built

A mobile AR app that anchors a scale model of the platform and its subsea infrastructure to a real surface.

Guided exploration with hotspots, so a user can tap into the parts of the system they want explained.

Optimised so the full model runs smoothly on standard phones and tablets, not just flagship devices.

Shell walks people through a deep water platform from any table, with the whole operation at their fingertips.
