Rupertsland Institute · delivered through MammothXR

Métis history, brought off the page and onto the desk.

An educational augmented reality app for the Rupertsland Institute, built with MammothXR, that brings Métis learning material to life through a phone camera.

The brief

The Rupertsland Institute is the Métis Centre of Excellence for education, training and research in Alberta. Their learning material needed a way to reach students on the devices they use every day, and to make the content something to explore rather than just read.

What we built

  • 01

A mobile AR app that recognises printed material and layers 3D content, animation and narration over it.

  • 02

Content structured for the classroom, so a teacher can move a group through it without every student needing help.

  • 03

Built for the phones and tablets schools actually have, not just the latest ones.

What it does now

Students point a phone at the material and the lesson stands up in front of them, in classrooms across Alberta.
